Capacity building and land-titling to strengthen indigenous communities in Peru

Forests can deliver 30 percent of the climate solution if we halt and reverse tropical deforestation. To combat climate change the UN-REDD Programme supports indigenous peoples in their efforts to protect forests. The Peruvian government with the support from the UN-REDD Programme trained more than 325 indigenous technicians and leaders on climate change and the role of forests. Some trained technicians and indigenous leaders now facilitate legal processes for land titling, but above all ensure communication and trust between the different stakeholders involved in the processes.
