Launched at the SG Climate Summit in 2014, the New York Declaration on Forests (NYDF) has set ten ambitious goals with the aim to end natural forest loss by 2030. Over 200 endorsers support the Declaration including, more than 60 governments, over 60 of the world’s biggest companies, and more than 90 influential NOGs, civil society and Indigenous peoples’ organizations.

The NYDF Global Platform was established in 2017 to increase ambition and forge new partnerships to accelerate action on the NYDF and other forest goals. The Platform is coordinated by the NYDF Secretariat including, UNDP, Meridian Institute, Climate Advisors, and the NYDF Progress Assessment led by Climate Focus and is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.

The NYDF Platform aims to: convene and facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogues, develop partnerships and foster collaboration to achieve the NYDF goals, capture and share knowledge on forest action, and highlight the progress of endorsers to meet the goals.
